Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 29 September 2026 · Applies to Taskwren, a United Kingdom home-services marketplace.

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of Taskwren and the services made available through the Taskwren platform.

Taskwren is operated by TASKWREN LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England & Wales under company number 17389116, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street Covent Garden London WC2H 9JQ UNITED KINGDOM.

By creating an account, accessing the Platform, or making or accepting a Booking, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

Nothing in these Terms removes or reduces any right you have under UK consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. About Taskwren

Taskwren is an online marketplace that helps Customers find and book independent service providers ("Taskers") for services made available through the Platform.

Taskwren provides technology and marketplace services, which may include:

  • service discovery;
  • Tasker profiles;
  • booking and scheduling;
  • communication tools;
  • payment processing;
  • reviews;
  • account management;
  • customer support.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Taskwren does not itself perform the booked service. Taskers are independent service providers and are not employees, workers, agents, partners or representatives of Taskwren merely because they use the Platform.

A service contract is generally formed between the Customer and the Tasker for the performance of the booked Task.

2. Definitions

In these Terms:

  • Platform means the Taskwren website, mobile applications and related Taskwren services.
  • Taskwren, we, us and our mean TASKWREN LIMITED.
  • Customer means a person using the Platform to find or book a Service.
  • Tasker means an independent service provider offering Services through the Platform.
  • User means any Customer or Tasker.
  • Booking means an arrangement made through the Platform between a Customer and a Tasker.
  • Task means the work a Customer asks a Tasker to carry out.
  • Service means a category of work made available through the Platform.
  • Content means anything a User uploads or submits, including profile information, photographs, messages and reviews.

3. Eligibility

You must be 18 or over and legally capable of entering into a contract to use the Platform, and the information you give us must be accurate.

You must not create an account using false or misleading information.

We may ask you to verify your identity, contact details, payment method or other information where that is appropriate. Verification supports trust and safety on the Platform; it is not a guarantee of any Tasker's skill, conduct or future performance, and not every Tasker will have completed every check.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for:

  • keeping your account information accurate;
  • maintaining the security of your account;
  • protecting your login credentials;
  • activity carried out through your account, except where you are not legally responsible for it;
  • telling us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must not:

  • share an account in a misleading or unauthorised way;
  • create a fraudulent account;
  • impersonate another person;
  • use the Platform for unlawful activity.

We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or enforcement of these Terms.

5. Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for giving a Tasker the information they reasonably need to understand and carry out a Task. Depending on the work, that may include:

  • a clear description of the Task;
  • relevant photographs;
  • accurate address and location details;
  • access information;
  • known hazards;
  • relevant dimensions or requirements;
  • anything else reasonably needed to carry out the Task safely.

You must provide a safe and lawful environment for the Tasker, and must not request unlawful, unsafe or prohibited work.

6. Tasker responsibilities

As a Tasker, you are responsible for deciding whether you have the skills, experience, equipment, permissions, insurance, licences and qualifications required for the Services you offer.

You are responsible for:

  • the quality of your work;
  • attending agreed Bookings;
  • communicating accurately;
  • complying with applicable law;
  • carrying out work safely;
  • providing accurate profile information;
  • setting your own availability and rates where the Platform allows it.

Taskwren does not control how an independent Tasker performs their Services.

Taskwren does not provide insurance for Tasks. You are responsible for deciding whether you need insurance for the Services you offer, and for holding it where the law requires.

7. Bookings

A Customer selects a Tasker, Service, date and time, and other Booking details through the Platform. A Booking may be subject to the Tasker accepting it, where the applicable flow requires that.

The Platform may show Tasker availability, hourly or Booking pricing, any minimum Booking time, applicable Taskwren fees, and other Booking information.

Availability shown on the Platform is not a guarantee that a Tasker will ultimately carry out a Booking.

The Booking details shown to you before you confirm form part of that Booking.

How search results are ordered. When a Customer searches from a location, the Taskers shown are those whose work area covers that location and who meet our eligibility requirements, ordered by distance — the nearest first. Where no location is given, Taskers are listed by their average rating. Badges, fees and payments do not change a Tasker's position.

8. Prices and fees

The price shown to a Customer before confirmation may include:

  • the Tasker's applicable rate;
  • any minimum Booking requirement;
  • Taskwren platform fees, where these are clearly disclosed;
  • any other agreed charges.

The rate and fees that apply are those displayed to you during the relevant Booking flow. We will not add undisclosed mandatory fees after a Booking has been confirmed.

The total shown before you confirm a Booking is an estimate for the time you book. The amount you finally pay is set by the Tasker's invoice for the time actually worked and any agreed expenses, at the rate and fees shown to you when you booked. It can be lower or higher than the estimate. Section 9 explains how and when you are charged.

9. Payment

Payments are processed using third-party payment providers, including Stripe. You may be asked to provide or select a valid payment method.

Where your card details are collected and handled by our payment provider, Taskwren does not ordinarily receive or store your complete card number.

When you book: an authorisation, not a charge

When you confirm a Booking, we ask your bank or card provider to authorise the estimated total shown to you before you confirmed: the Tasker's rate for the time booked (including any minimum Booking time) and Taskwren's fee. An authorisation reserves that amount; it is not a payment. It may appear on your statement as a pending or temporary transaction. How quickly an unused authorisation disappears depends on your bank or card provider, and is outside Taskwren's control.

The final amount: the Tasker's invoice

The estimated total is not the final price. What you pay is the Tasker's invoice for the Booking: their rate for the time actually worked (subject to any minimum Booking time), Taskwren's fee on that time, and any expenses agreed with you under section 12. The final amount can therefore be lower or higher than the estimate — for example, if the Task takes more or less time than you booked. The rate and fee are those shown to you when you booked.

The invoice appears in the Booking on the Platform once the Tasker sends it. If anything on it looks wrong, contact Support straight away.

When you are charged — including when you are not using the app

Payment is taken automatically, about 24 hours after the Tasker sends the invoice. You do not need to open the app: the charge is made to the payment method the Booking was made with, without you being present (a merchant-initiated payment).

  • If the invoice is no more than the amount authorised, and the authorisation is still valid, the invoice amount is taken from it and the rest of the authorisation is released.
  • Otherwise — for example, if the invoice is higher than the amount authorised, or the authorisation has expired — the authorisation is released and the full invoice amount is charged to the same payment method as a new payment.

A Booking is only ever charged to the payment method it was made with. We do not move a Booking's payment to another card or wallet you have saved.

Saved cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay

You can save a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay as a payment method in your account. When you save a payment method, or make a Booking with one, you agree that Taskwren (through our payment provider, Stripe) may charge it without you being present to pay the final invoice for Bookings made with it, as described above, and any charge that applies to those Bookings under the Cancellation Policy. A saved payment method is used for a tip only when you choose to give one.

With Apple Pay or Google Pay, the payment is taken from the card held in your wallet; Apple and Google do not charge you. Your wallet may use a device-specific number for that card, which can stop working if you change or reset your device — if a payment then fails, we will ask you to complete it in the app, as described below.

You can remove a saved payment method at any time in Payment methods. Removing one does not cancel a payment still due for a Booking already made with it; if that payment then cannot be taken, we will ask you to complete it as described below.

If a payment does not go through

If a payment is declined, or your bank asks you to confirm it (for example with 3-D Secure), we will tell you in the app and by email, and you can complete the payment in the app. The amount remains due until it is paid. If it still cannot be taken, Taskwren Support will contact you. The Tasker is told that the payment has not gone through yet, but not why.

Nothing in this section affects your legal rights, including any right to ask your bank or card provider for a refund of a payment whose amount you could not reasonably have expected.

How Taskers are paid

For each completed Task, a Tasker receives their rate for the time worked (subject to any minimum Booking time they set), plus any expenses the Customer approved, plus any tip the Customer gives. Taskwren's platform fee is charged to the Customer on top of the Tasker's rate; it is not deducted from what the Tasker earns.

Payments reach Taskers through Stripe Connect. Stripe pays funds into the Tasker's bank account on its payout schedule, which the Tasker can see in their Stripe account and in the Payouts section of the app. Taskwren does not hold Taskers' funds.

A tip is passed to the Tasker in full, less the processing fee Stripe charges on that tip.

Refunds and deductions. If a Customer is refunded and Taskwren decides, after reviewing the Booking, that the refund is the Tasker's responsibility (for example because the Task was not carried out as agreed), the Tasker's share of the refunded amount is reversed from their Stripe balance. Only the Tasker's share is reversed: Taskwren refunds its own fee, and Taskwren pays the fee Stripe charges for processing the refund. If the Tasker's Stripe balance is not enough to cover the reversal, it may become negative, and the shortfall may be recovered from the Tasker's future payouts or from the bank account linked to their Stripe account, as the Stripe Connected Account Agreement allows. We tell the Tasker the amount deducted, and the Tasker can ask us to review the decision through Support. Nothing is deducted for a refund Taskwren decides is not the Tasker's responsibility, or for a refund made outside the Platform. Taskwren makes no other deduction from a Tasker's earnings.

10. Cancellations

Bookings may be cancelled subject to the Taskwren Cancellation Policy and the status of the Booking at the time of cancellation. The Cancellation Policy forms part of these Terms by reference.

Where the Platform shows a cancellation charge or other consequence, you will be shown that information before you confirm the cancellation.

If you are a consumer, you may also have a statutory right to cancel a Booking within 14 days, starting the day after it is made. Section 4 of the Cancellation Policy explains that right, how to use it, and how it applies to Tasks scheduled within those 14 days. Nothing in the Cancellation Policy affects any statutory cancellation right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Refunds

Whether a refund is due depends on the circumstances of the Booking, the state of the payment, and applicable law. We may facilitate refunds through our payment provider where that is appropriate.

A refund is not guaranteed simply because one is requested. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory right you have as a consumer.

12. Task changes and additional work

If the scope of a Task materially changes after Booking, the Customer and Tasker should agree the change through the Platform's communication and Booking tools where possible. Any additional work should be clearly agreed before it is carried out.

Changes in scope must not be used to get around Platform pricing, fees or safety rules.

Expenses. A Tasker may add materials or other costs to their invoice only if they were agreed with the Customer and are supported by evidence where we ask for it. Expenses are limited as set out in our service policies.

13. Communications

We provide messaging tools so Customers and Taskers can discuss a Task. You must not use messaging to harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, to send unlawful content, to commit fraud, to distribute malware, to solicit prohibited activity, or to misuse another person's personal information.

We may access communications where reasonably necessary for support, safety, fraud prevention, dispute handling, enforcement or legal compliance, in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Messaging for a Booking closes 24 hours after the Task is completed. After that you can still contact Taskwren Support about the Booking. If one User blocks another, messaging between them stops.

14. Reviews and ratings

Eligible Customers may leave a rating or review after a completed Task. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.

You must not submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings, offer improper incentives for a misleading review, or threaten another User to influence one.

We may moderate or remove Content that breaches these Terms or our policies. We will not remove a genuine review simply because it is unfavourable.

15. Content

You may upload Content including profile information, photographs, Task descriptions, messages, reviews and supporting files.

You keep ownership of your Content. You grant Taskwren a limited licence to host, reproduce, process and display it where reasonably necessary to operate, secure and improve the Platform and to provide the service you have asked for.

You must have the rights necessary to upload anything you submit.

16. Prohibited use

You must not use the Platform to:

  • break the law;
  • commit fraud;
  • mislead other Users;
  • harass or threaten anyone;
  • discriminate unlawfully;
  • distribute malware;
  • interfere with Platform security;
  • scrape or access the Platform without authorisation;
  • manipulate reviews;
  • create false Bookings;
  • evade legitimate Taskwren fees;
  • use another person's account without permission;
  • offer or request prohibited or unsafe services.

17. Safety

You remain responsible for assessing the practical safety of a Task and the working environment.

We may provide safety features, information and support, but we cannot remove every risk associated with in-person services. You should not proceed with a Task if you reasonably believe it is unsafe or unlawful.

Please report serious safety concerns to Taskwren Support. Where there is an immediate risk of harm, contact the emergency services.

18. Wren and customer support

We provide automated support through Wren, our AI-assisted support service. Wren can help with common questions and guide you through Taskwren information.

Wren is not authorised to independently issue refunds, cancel Bookings, change payments, modify accounts, promise compensation, or make binding decisions on safety cases.

Where appropriate, a support conversation may be passed to Taskwren Support for human assistance. Automated responses do not override these Terms, our published policies, or your mandatory legal rights.

19. Third-party services

We rely on third-party providers for parts of the Platform, including payments, hosting and cloud infrastructure, notifications, email delivery, AI-assisted support, and location functionality where applicable.

Those providers process information in accordance with their own terms and obligations. We remain responsible for our own obligations under applicable law.

20. Intellectual property

The Taskwren name, branding, software, design, interfaces, databases and other Platform materials are owned by or licensed to TASKWREN LIMITED unless stated otherwise.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit our intellectual property, except as permitted by law or with our permission.

21. Platform availability

We aim to keep the Platform available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Platform may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, infrastructure issues, security events, third-party outages, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this section excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

22. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or end access where reasonably necessary, including where these Terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, where fraud or abuse is suspected, where safety concerns arise, where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect Users or the Platform.

Where it is appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why and what you can do next.

You may stop using Taskwren at any time, and may request account deletion through the account controls, subject to legal, financial, fraud-prevention and record-retention obligations.

23. Disputes between Customers and Taskers

If something goes wrong, Customers and Taskers should communicate promptly. We may provide support and may review relevant Booking information or communications to help resolve the issue.

Taskwren is not automatically a party to the service contract between a Customer and a Tasker, and does not guarantee a particular outcome to a dispute. Nothing in this section removes any right you have to pursue a remedy available to you under applicable law.

24. Taskwren's responsibility

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where doing so would be unlawful, including any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused solely by the independent actions of a Tasker or Customer, by inaccurate information a User has supplied, by events outside our reasonable control, or by use of the Platform contrary to these Terms.

25. Consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms removes or reduces rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights apply in addition to these Terms, and take priority over any inconsistent provision.

26. Privacy

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information about cookies and browser storage is in our Cookie Policy.

27. Badges

Taskwren may display a badge on a Tasker's profile. There is currently one: Taskwren Elite.

A badge is awarded by the Taskwren team after reviewing a Tasker's record on the Platform. It is a recognition of that record and nothing more. In particular, a badge is not a verification of identity, a criminal-record or background check, evidence of insurance, licensing or qualifications, a statement that the Tasker is employed or engaged by Taskwren, or a guarantee of the quality, safety, timing or outcome of any Task. Nothing in a badge changes the position in section 1 that Taskers are independent and that Taskwren does not itself perform the booked service.

A badge cannot be bought, sponsored or obtained by paying a higher fee, and holding one does not change where a Tasker appears in search results.

We may withdraw a badge. Where we do, we will tell the Tasker, record the reason, and review that decision if the Tasker asks us to through Support. Withdrawing a badge does not by itself affect a Tasker's account or any Booking already made.

The Taskwren Elite Badge Policy sets out in full what the badge means, how it is awarded and withdrawn, and how to ask us to look again at a decision. It forms part of these Terms by reference.

28. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including for changes to the Platform, legal or regulatory requirements, security, new functionality, or business changes.

The current version always shows its last-updated date. Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will give you appropriate notice where that is required. Changes do not retrospectively remove rights you have already accrued.

29. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the mandatory protections that apply under the law of the part of the United Kingdom where you live, and nothing in these Terms prevents you from relying on any jurisdiction rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
