Cookie Policy — Taskwren

1. About this policy

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle your personal data. "Cookies" here also covers similar technologies such as your browser's local storage and session storage, which the app uses to function.

2. What cookies & storage are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies — local storage and session storage — let a site save small amounts of information in your browser. We use these to keep you signed in, to remember choices you make, and to let the booking process work across steps. Session storage is cleared when you close the browser tab; local storage persists until it is cleared.

3. Consent & your choices (PECR)

Under PECR, storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for does not require your consent. Everything in section 4 is of that kind, so it is always active and cannot be switched off.

Everything in section 5 is optional, and the two categories there — preferences and analytics — are independent: you can allow one and refuse the other. When you first visit we ask, and you can accept all, reject all, or open cookie settings to decide — rejecting takes exactly one click, the same as accepting, and nothing optional is switched on in advance. We record only your choice, and we act on it: if you decline, those preferences are held for the current browsing session only and are gone when you close the tab, and if you later withdraw your consent the stored copies are deleted straight away.

You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like, using the Cookie settings link in the footer of this page. You can also clear or block storage through your browser settings (section 7), though some features will not work without the strictly necessary items.

4. Strictly necessary storage

These are required for the Platform to work securely. They cannot be switched off within the app.

5. Optional storage

Two kinds, each with its own switch in Cookie settings. Both are off until you turn them on, and changing one does not change the other.

Preferences

These remember your choices between visits, to save you repeating them. They are not used for tracking, profiling or advertising, and nothing here is shared with anyone else.

They are stored only if you agree. If you decline, or have not yet chosen, the same information is kept for the current browsing session and is discarded when you close the tab — so the search you have just asked for still works, and nothing is left on your device afterwards.

When you sign out, we clear your session and the cached profile details above. Your last search location and your payment-type choice stay in your browser until you clear them yourself (section 7), or until you withdraw your consent in Cookie settings, which deletes them immediately. Your cookie choice itself is kept, so we do not have to ask again.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (property `G-PFK71V8YYF`) to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. It is off unless you turn it on: until you do, no Google script is loaded, no Google cookie is created, and nothing is sent to Google.

What we send is the page you are viewing, with the query string removed and identifiers replaced — a booking page is reported as `/tasks/:id`, and a search is reported as `/services` without your search terms or the coordinates you searched from. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, postal address, booking details, payment details or message content.

Google Analytics is not used for advertising. We do not enable Google Signals, ad personalisation or remarketing, and Google's advertising storage is set to denied at all times. Google processes this data as described in its own privacy information.

If you turn Analytics off after having turned it on, we stop collection immediately and delete the Google Analytics cookies we are able to remove from your browser. Data Google has already collected is subject to Google's own policies.

6. Third-party cookies

When you make a payment, our payment processor Stripe may set its own strictly necessary cookies on the payment page to process the transaction securely and to help prevent fraud. These are governed by Stripe's privacy policy. The only other third party is Google Analytics, and only if you have turned Analytics on — see section 5. We do not use third-party advertising or social-media tracking cookies anywhere on the Platform.

7. How to manage or clear storage

You can control and delete cookies and browser storage through your browser settings — for example to block cookies, clear existing storage, or be warned before storage is set. Guidance is available from your browser's help pages and from the ICO's cookies guidance. Please note that clearing or blocking the strictly necessary items will sign you out and may stop parts of the Platform from working.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Platform or the law. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
